The Ticonderoga Festival Guild has lost a dear friend, an engineer/organizer, a staunch supporter, and a king. Jim Beaty passed away suddenly on September 23, 2021 – we are heartbroken Jim did so much for the Festival Guild:
Jim served as our Board of Directors President for several years, carried a big gavel and kept our meetings and organization on track. He served on the board for 6 years.
The Festival Guild Players (our Community Theater group) relied on Jim for so much behind the scenes production support. He designed, built and transported our stage systems then stored them for us. He could always be counted on to be there to help when needed.
The summer talent show competition depended on Jim to organize the judging criteria and to help judge the talent show contestant performances.
Jim was instrumental in developing a plan for a performing arts pavilion. He contacted all governing bodies to get approval for the potential building site. He used his engineering skills to help develop the design for the pavilion. Jim used his engineering skills to conduct soil and site studies to ensure the potential building site would support the building. We hope to see this project move forward in the future and all Jim’s hard work be put to use.
The Twelfth Night Concert had a royal start each year since Jim often participated as one of the 3 Kings singing “We Three Kings”. If he did not perform, he helped line up others to play the role of the Kings. He worked with his wife Seddon to make and print programs for the concert each year.
Jim Beaty was “one of a kind” – he was a caring, kind person with a wonderful dry sense of humor. He could be counted on to help when asked, or just to volunteer to do what was needed. He is missed and his shoes will never be filled.
We are so blessed to have known Jim and to have had him in our lives.
